In December of 2011 I helped my wife and one of her good friends start their own websites. After watching me have success with a number of websites, they decided that they wanted a website of their own that would generate solid traffic and help them earn a bit of extra spending money. They decided on the site name and concept and got started creating amazing content.
EnchantedMommy.com is a site that they use to share the interesting and creative things they do and cook with their friends and family. They spend a lot of time creating crafts or cooking delicious meals and then sharing their secrets with their readers. Currently, they receive over 23,000 monthly visitors to their website. However, this wasn’t always the case.
In January of 2012, there was barely any site traffic. Content was being shared on Facebook, Twitter, and optimized for search but traffic wasn’t growing as quickly as any of us would have liked. We started investigating other options for gaining site traffic. We were familiar with Pinterest.com at the time and had read a few articles of how Pinterest can really drive traffic to your website. We shared a few pieces of content on Pinterest but weren’t having any luck going viral. That’s when we got the idea for Pin Button Attraction.
Building Pin Button Attraction
After reviewing Google Analytics we did see that when we shared content on Pinterest it would send in a handful of visitors but nothing sustainable. We realized that once Pinterest users hit EnchantedMommy.com we weren’t effectively inviting them on our site to share back on Pinterest what they found on our site. It seemed as if the social-share buttons on the side of our posts weren’t standing out enough. To solve this problem, we came up with the idea of putting the pin button directly infront of where we knew eyeballs would go; on the images on our site.
We used the team of developers here at BoostWP.com to help us bring our idea to life and after trial and testing we launched Pin Button Attraction on EnchantedMommy.com. The results were amazing. Before we knew it traffic was climbing quickly, and most of it was from Pinterest. In January of 2012 we had less than 1,000 visitors. By the end of June 2012 that had grown to over 20,000 monthly visitors.
Going Viral
We knew we had a hit on our hand when we saw multiple posts go viral on Pinterest. It’s not often that a site has multiple posts in just a few months go viral on social networks, but that was just what was happening for EnchantedMommy.com. One of the top articles we wrote was about a creative Third Birthday Cake. It had a great image which helps the article spread on Pinterest but we never guessed it would be as successful as it has been. This article has received over 195,000 pins on Pinterest.
One of the other articles that went viral talked about an incredible dessert that my wife makes. It’s now received over 130,000 pins on Pinterest and that number continues to grow.
EnchantedMommy.com has now had multiple pages on their site shared on Pinterest more than 1,000 times each. We attribute this success to Pin Button Attraction and how it quickly invites visitors to share the site Pinterest. The site never would have received the amount of traffic growth that it has if it was not for the Pin Button Attraction plugin.
An Added Benefit
Having articles go viral on social networks also help drive traffic from other sources. Before we knew it EnchantedMommy.com was ranking #1 for many search phrases related to third birthday cakes. Search traffic was increasing as users shared, talked about, linked to, and commented on our site. Pin Button Attraction helped drive traffic and create authority for our website, which helps it continue to grow today.
Year over Year Growth
It’s now been a full year since we launched EnchantedMommy.com and the site continues to see success. In just over 365 days we have been able grow the site traffic from just a couple of hundred visitors a month to over 23,000 monthly visitors. that’s a growth of over 3,000%. We’re hopeful that with quality content, great images, and the help of Pin Button Attraction we’ll be able to continue this crazy growth rate in 2013. And we want your sites to grow too!
